thrilled to introduce WhatsApp Channels to more than 150 countries, providing a secure and private means of receiving updates that are meaningful to you. We are excited to welcome numerous organizations, sports teams, artists, and thought leaders who can now be followed directly within WhatsApp.
For those new to Channels, our primary objective is to establish the most confidential broadcasting service available. Channels operate independently from your regular chats, and your choice of whom to follow remains entirely private and undisclosed to other followers. Furthermore, we prioritize the safeguarding of personal information for both administrators and followers.
We greatly value the positive feedback we received during our initial launch in ten countries. As we expand Channels globally, we are introducing several noteworthy updates:
- Enhanced Directory: You can now effortlessly discover channels to follow, thanks to automatic filtering based on your location. Additionally, you can explore channels that are new, highly active, or popular, based on the number of followers.
- Reactions: Express your sentiments by using emojis to provide feedback, and you can also keep track of the total reactions received. Rest assured, your individual reactions will remain confidential and undisclosed to other followers.
- Editing: Soon, administrators will have the ability to make updates to their messages for a period of up to 30 days, after which we will automatically delete them from our servers.
- Forwarding: Whenever you choose to forward an update to your chats or groups, it will include a convenient link back to the channel, enabling people to access more information easily.
- Ongoing Improvements: This is only the initial phase, and we are committed to introducing more features and expanding Channels based on the valuable feedback we receive from users. In the coming months, we will also make it possible for anyone to create their own channel.
